Video of wild dog/warthog interaction

Hi folks,
While I’m temporarily away from the field, I decided to take advantage of the faster internet connections in the ‘real world’ and upload some of my wild dog videos to U-tube so I can share them with you.
Check out this video of the wild dogs harssassing a large and grumpy warthog, which I mentioned [...]

Merry Christmas from the Zimbabwe Wild Dogs

All of us from the Zimbabwe Wild Dog Project would like to take this opportunity to wish all our readers and supporters a very merry Christmas.  Rueben asked me to send extra special greeting and thanks to those who helped him to feed his baby daughter during the very difficult time after his wife died.

Scorpions… and wild dogs!

There appears to have been a scorpion infestation in the conservancy recently…. Here’s one of the very, very, very, very, very painful ones.  It was just making its way into my house a few nights ago, although luckily I saw him before he got inside.

Thank you for the support

A threat of Rabies…

Hi folks,
A few days ago, we had a kudu die in the conservancy, which tested positive for rabies.  This is of huge concern for the wild dog population here.  Once in a pack, rabies can spread through the whole pack in a matter of days or weeks, killing every individual.  It’s a horrific disease [...]

Wild dogs versus Warthogs

Hi folks,
So much for wild dogs being big, brave, viscious carnivores! I recently watched a large number of the Bedford pack in confrontation with a warthog.  There was no doubt about it – warthog one, dogs nil!  Unfortunately I dont have any photos, as I was taking video instead.
Anyway, it was a great sighting of the pack – [...]
