Villagers near the Loliondo Game Reserve in Tanzania (close to Seregeti National Park) have killed 40 wild dogs by burning them alive in the caves where they were (presumably) denning, in retailation for apparent livestock killing. The Serengeti population has been struggling to build up numbers in recent years and this a huge knock-back for the species.
I appreciate that rural farmers cannot afford livestock losses on the scale mentioned, but this is not the answer. Times like this make me even more ashamed than usual of the human race. Click here to read the full story
